Digital Education Workshop

ICT Team of KA lead by Mr. Atif Kamal assisted by Mr. Sharique Maqsood and Mr. Lalzaib Badshah conducted a Digital Education Workshop on Thursday, 19th March, 2020, at INFAQ House participated by the teachers of Senior and College Sections of Korangi Academy.

The Head and IT In-charge of IETC also attended the workshop besides the Principal, KA and Section Heads of Senior and College Sections of KA.

The Zoom Meeting, a cloud-based video conferencing service (Zoom Cloud Meeting app in case of smartphones) can be used for holding classes by the teachers while sitting at their homes. The software/app can be downloaded free of cost for the Zoom’s website. However the free version allows maximum 40 minutes on-line video conferencing session at a time with maximum of 100 participants to attend the session remotely via internet using their own desktop, laptop or smartphones.

Mr. Atif Kamal logged in as a Host (in s classroom environment as a Teacher) on to the Zoom’s video conferencing website while the present teachers joined in the Zoom session using their laptops or smartphones as participants (in a classroom environment as Students). Recording of the training session was also made & shown to the audience at the end of the workshop.

Mr. Nazim F. Haji, , Chairman MC, Vice President, GB, CDSS,  Rear Admiral (R) Syed A. Baqar, HI (M), Member MC & GB, Chief Executive (CE), CDSS and Mr. Sohail Ayub, Program Manager Education, INFAQ Foundation also attended the session. Mr. Nazim F. Haji emphasized to use the on-line technologies during this calamity as an opportunity to learn more ways to ensure continuity of disrupted education and engagement of our students in studies at their homes.

The CE appreciated the interest shown and efforts during the Digital Education Workshop by the teachers are appreciated. He reiterated to continue the efforts to adopt digital education in KA and in normal times too this technology will be of great help to enable teachers to cover syllabi during holidays or take in weak students pre-examination. Its common use will also make the students use to digital education and comprehend teachings easily. The CE decided to make this program for the next session to have regular workshops for the teachers of Middle and Junior Sections.
